Government construction and facilities contracting
AXA South bids, scopes, and manages government construction and facilities projects, then brings in the licensed trades that physically perform the work. We carry the prime relationship; licensed subcontractors carry the wrench.
No special license required. AXA South bids and holds prime government contracts as an authorized contracting party. No special license is required to bid or hold the prime relationship in the categories we pursue. Any work that requires a state-issued trade, professional, or specialty license is performed by subcontractors who hold those licenses in the project jurisdiction.
AXA South is a contracting and program-management firm, not a licensed trade.
The work, in plain terms.
- 01
Renovation, repair, and tenant improvements
Interior fit-out, partition work, flooring, finishes, accessibility upgrades, and mechanical or electrical refresh inside existing government-occupied space. Coordinated around occupied schedules.
- 02
Facilities maintenance and small construction
Roof repairs, envelope work, paving, fencing, lighting, and grounds. JOC and IDIQ task-order work where the agency already has a vehicle, and discrete RFP awards where they do not.
- 03
Trade coordination through licensed subs
Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and any other licensed trade is performed by a properly licensed subcontractor in the jurisdiction where the project sits. We coordinate, schedule, and stand behind the result.
- 04
Compliance, safety, and closeout
Davis-Bacon and state prevailing-wage reporting, certified payroll, OSHA documentation, daily reports, and full closeout binders including warranties, O&M manuals, and as-builts.
Federal, state, and local buyers.
GSA PBS, USACE, NAVFAC, VA, and other agencies running JOC, MATOC, or single-award construction. We respond on RSMeans-priced task orders and traditional sealed-bid solicitations.
State facilities and DOT-adjacent work across Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and the broader Gulf South. We register and respond on the state procurement portal required for each project.
Counties, parishes, municipalities, school districts, and public universities. Smaller package size, same documentation standards.
What buyers actually ask.
Is AXA South a licensed general contractor?
+
We hold the contracting relationship with the agency, and any work that requires a licensed trade is performed by a subcontractor properly licensed in the jurisdiction. In states like Mississippi where a general contractor license is required for projects above a statutory threshold (currently $50,000), the GC of record is licensed in that state.
Do you self-perform any trades?
+
No. We are deliberately structured as a prime that manages, schedules, and is responsible to the agency. Trade labor is performed by licensed, insured subcontractors so the licensing and liability sit where they belong.
Can you handle Davis-Bacon and certified payroll?
+
Yes. We collect weekly certified payroll from every sub on federal-funded work, run wage-decision compliance checks, and submit through WH-347 or the project's required portal.
What size projects do you take on?
+
Repair and renovation packages from roughly $25,000 through multi-million-dollar JOC and MATOC task orders. We do not chase ground-up new construction outside a teaming arrangement with a heavy-civil partner.
